About Open Skates

Open Skates is for people who learn to skate on their own time: at a rink's public or open session, on a roller rink floor, or on a smooth path on inline skates. Most of that time is spent going round in circles. A plan of what to practise, and a note of how it went, makes the same hour count for more.

The skill ladder and its cues are written for this site in plain words. They are general practice suggestions, not a coaching programme, not a skating school and not any federation's badge system. If you want lessons, a qualified coach at your rink is the best next step.

Open Skates does not list rinks or session times and is not connected with any rink, club or federation.
